At Slum Art, we empower children in slums by teaching them art
skills that help them express their stories and transform their futures.
Every original artwork acquired from our talented children in Makoko and Ijora Badia directly funds their school fees, uniform, educational materials, and daily nutritious meals.

Slum Art empowers children in underserved communities through creativity, education, and skills training to break the cycle of poverty and unlock their future potential.
We provide resources and mentorship for young artists to thrive.
We cultivate hope
Slum Art Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming underserved communities through art, education, technology, creativity, and community development. We believe talent exists in every community, regardless of economic circumstances, and that every child and young person deserves access to opportunities that can help them discover their potential. Slum Art creates platforms where people can learn, create, express themselves, develop skills, and build a better future.
We use creativity as a tool for education, empowerment, social change, and community development. Through our programs, we provide opportunities in visual arts, music, film, dance, photography, poetry, fashion, animation, theatre, design, technology, skateboarding, and mentorship. We also run community initiatives such as Food Clinic, Hair-Port, Jollof Rice Party, Art-surance, Mentorship, and Garri Fiesta, providing practical support, connection, creativity, and positive experiences for children, young people, and families in underserved communities.
To build a world where every child and young person, regardless of where they come from or their circumstances, has the opportunity to discover their talent, develop their potential, and create a meaningful future.
To use art, creativity, education, technology, and community action to empower underserved communities, unlock human potential, create opportunities, and develop sustainable solutions to social challenges—starting in Africa and reaching communities around the world.

Our 13-program ecosystem focused on using creativity, culture, and practical skills development to empower young people and communities:

A music development program focused on discovering and nurturing musical talent in underserved communities. Participants explore singing, songwriting, instruments, music production, and performance while using music to tell stories and express their experiences.
A filmmaking program that teaches young people storytelling through film. Participants learn scriptwriting, directing, cinematography, acting, editing, and production while creating stories that document their communities and amplify their voices.
A dance and movement program that helps young people develop creativity, discipline, confidence, teamwork, and performance skills. It introduces participants to different dance styles while creating opportunities in choreography, entertainment, and professional performance.
A photography program teaching young people how to capture and communicate stories through images. Participants learn photography techniques, visual storytelling, editing, and documentation while using their cameras and phones to showcase their communities from their own perspective.
An urban sports program using skateboarding to engage young people in positive recreation, creativity, discipline, teamwork, and physical activity. It creates a safe space where participants can develop skills, build confidence, and discover opportunities within skate and youth culture.
A writing and spoken-word program that gives young people a platform to express their thoughts, dreams, experiences, and concerns. Through poetry, participants develop writing, communication, public-speaking, and performance skills while using their voices to address social issues.
A fashion and entrepreneurship program introducing young people to fashion design, tailoring, styling, textiles, upcycling, and creative business. It encourages participants to turn creativity and waste materials into fashionable products and potential sources of income.
A technology-driven creative program teaching children and young people animation, storytelling, character design, 2D/3D animation, and AI-powered creative tools. It connects artistic creativity with technology and prepares participants for opportunities in the global digital content industry.
A performing-arts program focused on acting, scriptwriting, stage production, storytelling, and performance. Young people develop confidence, communication, teamwork, and leadership skills while creating productions that tell authentic community stories.
A creative design program focused on graphic design, product design, digital design, branding, illustration, and creative problem-solving. It helps young people turn ideas into useful visual and physical products while developing skills for careers in the creative industry.
A faith and community outreach program focused on spreading messages of hope, compassion, character, service, and positive transformation. It uses creative activities, community gatherings, storytelling, music, and outreach initiatives to connect with families and encourage positive values.
A technology and digital-skills program designed to introduce young people to coding, artificial intelligence, robotics, digital literacy, software development, electronics, and emerging technologies. Its goal is to bridge the digital divide by giving young people practical technology skills and pathways toward education, employment, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Direct, hands-on community projects providing nutrition, grooming, celebration, and care to children and families:
A community feeding initiative providing nutritious meals and food support to children and families who may struggle to access regular meals. Beyond feeding, it creates an opportunity to connect with the community, identify needs, and promote wellbeing.
A community grooming and personal-care initiative providing free or subsidized haircuts, hairstyling, and grooming services to children and young people. It promotes dignity, confidence, self-care, and a sense of belonging while creating opportunities for barbers and stylists to volunteer their skills.
A community celebration built around food, music, art, games, and social connection. It brings children and families together for moments of joy while creating a platform for partners, volunteers, artists, and supporters to engage directly with the community.
A creative giving and impact initiative that connects artwork with social change. Artworks can be created, sold, sponsored, or donated to generate resources for community projects such as education, feeding, infrastructure, and youth development.
A personal and professional development initiative connecting young people with mentors who can provide guidance, knowledge, encouragement, and practical exposure. The goal is to help participants develop confidence, discover their strengths, make better decisions, and understand pathways toward education and careers.
A uniquely Nigerian community food and cultural experience centred around garri and other local food combinations. It combines food, games, music, storytelling, art, and community interaction to celebrate Nigerian culture while creating an enjoyable experience for children and families.
